About a year and a half ago a friend took me to see the Robert Wilson/Tom Waits collaboration The Black Rider. Everyone was making a big deal about the fact that Marianne Faithfull was in it. But imagine my surprise to see Mary Margaret O’Hara playing the lead female character! I thought she’d dropped out of music. I think she’s released an EP since “Miss America” but that’s it.

The show was uneven to say the least (Robert Wilson, blah) but she really made it come alive. What a glorious voice she has.

I hope she starts recording again.
