We Collect Our Small Moments Where We Will, Part One

i can (again), seattle, wa; 28 september 2008
Today’s been an entirely lovely Sunday so far.
It’s just about the perfect temperature in my apt and inside my body and I can still smell last night’s cherry blossom and gardenia bath hanging around.
I’ve been spending a lot of time with my oldest and best girl making plans for when she moves out to the Northwestern Front later this year.
On the books already:
+ Perfecting Soup
+ Weekend Breakfast
+ Neighborhood Exploration con Camera
+ Making a Shitton of Art Stuff
Also, visiting my new favorite restaurant I’ve never actually been to, Little Red Bike Cafe of Portland, Oregon.
That I live only about 2 hours away from this joint is yet another great thing about being in Seattle. God damn, I am excited to travel down there and visit.
For Seriously: check out their blog and tell me you’re not itching to beat a path down to their digs.
If you’re not down you have no heart.
I mean…let me put it this way:
They inspired me to tell Niki to name her new greyhound puppy (yet to be acquired, but greatly anticipated) Southern Challah French Toast with Oregon Peach Compote, Vanilla Kentucky Bourbon Butter and Real Maple Syrup.
The greatest pet name ever? Probably. Honestly I think it beats my previous favorite for “most radical pet name conceived by me”: Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche & Lou Andreas-Salomé (née Louise von Salomé). I’m kind of obsessed with paired pet names…(I’m still hanging onto Andy & Jean-Michel for my yet purchased bettas [no, you cannot steal that for your bettas]) and ok, I do admit that the pair would probably be pretty serious animals..but passionate! (if not sadly unrequited.)
I’m betting that Southern Challah French Toast with Oregon Peach Compote, Vanilla Kentucky Bourbon Butter and Real Maple Syrup would be a lot um…lighter and playful.
If she doesn’t do it I’ll have to get an animal so I can take the name for myself.
Anyway, when Niki gets here basically there’ll be a lot of cooking and baking (I’m going to try my hand at bread! And (reports reveal) Niki already makes an insanely great bagel!) and art-ing and hopefully a puppy I can use to stave off my longing for a dog because people, seriously, we all know I’m not adult enough for that action.
I don’t own a checkbook cover. I realized at the spa yesterday that I must appear pretty rad when I pull my crinkly papered checkbook from my bag, all incidental carbon creases everywhere and unsightly, rough tears because I am impatient when de-checking my checkbook.
Not even close to adult.
All this is to say that Belle & Sebastian is ideal cleaning music.
With tea.
Also, dahlias are my favorite flower currently, lavender is a much nicer color than I had previously thought, and breaking out my silk quilt was the best idea I’ve had in a long time.
Not as great as Southern Challah French Toast with Oregon Peach Compote, Vanilla Kentucky Bourbon Butter and Real Maple Syrup for a pet name, but I can only do so much, you guys.
